BLOG SERIES: MY JOURNEY
The Bible says that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Made by a great God who had purpose in mind when He created man.
Wouldn’t it be great if we came out of the womb knowing what our purpose in life was? It would be wonderful if we already knew what the future holds for us. But we do not know. Nobody knows.
The only thing certain in life is that we all will die one day, just as sure as we’re born. We don’t know when we will die, but we know that we all must die, someday.
This doesn’t have to be a morbid thought. But it should cause us to live life more thoughtfully, valuing each precious moment we have on this earth. It should also make us question what happens after we die? Where do we go? Is there “life” after death? If so, what does that life look like?
There are many concepts about the after-life. Some believe that when they die, they will come back as some other being or object (a rock, an animal, or a different person).
Some feel there is a glorious life awaiting them in heaven.
And some feel that nothing happens when you die; once you’re dead, you’re dead. It’s funny, though…I’ve never heard anyone say they believe they will go to hell when they die. Hell is a place no one wants to go.
I think that while we are alive, we should search for answers to these questions. We should seek truth. Is it heaven or hell? Is it reincarnation? Or is it nothingness?
We all have our specific beliefs about this subject. But our beliefs are just that — our beliefs. They are not necessarily truth. Truth is something that happens outside of our beliefs. Truth is not dependent upon our beliefs. Just because we believe something strongly, or have believed it all our life, doesn’t make it truth.
If you want answers to these questions, or answers to the why’s in life, seek truth.
Sure, you can talk to other people and get their opinions about things, but even other people’s opinions are not truth.
Fill your life with a search for truth, and once you’ve discovered the truth, embrace it, even if it doesn’t feel good. Even if it proves that you’ve been wrong or misguided your whole life. Surrender to truth.
