God is looking for a different kind of Christian. Not the kind we see day-to-day. Not the kind that promotes himself … his ministry … his gifts and talents.
God’s not looking for the kind of Christian who seeks notoriety and elevation among men. Nor is He looking for the Christian who seeks top billing for a preaching gig at the International Convention … where his name, and picture, are prominently displayed on a flyer for a preaching assignment at the convention.
This is when one thinks he has really “made it.” When everyone knows his name…. when he is sought after… when men and women pat him on the back – “You sure did preach today, brother!” “Yes sir, you preached my soul happy!”
God is looking for the Christian who is willing to humble himself so that God can get the glory.
God is looking for the Christian who will stand flat-footed and say, “It’s not I, but Christ who lives inside.”
God is looking for the Christian who, when men try and elevate him, he pushes back and says, “Not so. The God I serve, He alone deserves the glory.”
God is looking for the Christian who will put Him first above everything else.
God is looking for the Christian who has humbled himself, and taken on God’s character and nature – which is holy, humble, meek & lowly, gracious, patient, kind…
Will you be a different kind of Christian?
Will you lay down everything, pick up your cross and follow Jesus?
Will you push back when men try and elevate you, and your name, above God?
Will you reject the things of the world, and embrace the things of God?
Will you stop wavering in your faith, and start trusting God, standing firmly on His word?
Will you make the decision that from now on, for God I live, and for God I die?
Keep your eyes focused firmly on God. Let Him lead and guide you. Trust Him to take the reigns of your life. Trust Him to lead the way.
Determine within yourself that you will be a different kind of Christian – the kind in whom God is well pleased. The kind in whom it is determined that when you stand before God, you will hear Him say “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter in and take your rest!”
Make up your mind to be a different kind of Christian.
