An Open Letter to the Church
ANOINTED, SPIRIT-FILLED BOOK
An Open Letter to the Church is NOT for the "average" Christian. The average Christian is one who, while she may go to church every Sunday, only reads her Bible occasionally, rarely participates in any of the corporate fasts called by her pastor, is usually too busy to attend Bible study, and HARDLY EVER attends prayer meetings. She finds that her work and family obligations, along with her many extra-curricular activities, consume a lot of her time.
An average Christian will never be able to carry on a meaningful discussion about God beyond the familiar catch-phrases and sound-bytes (i.e. "God is good, all the time!").
Then who is this book for?
This book is for the Christian believer who ... desires to live a spirit-filled life. For the one who hungers and thirsts after righteousness. For the spirit-filled believer who finds purpose in holy living. It's for the mature Christian who longs to sit in the presence of God, and be filled with spiritual wisdom and revelation from on high. And, An Open Letter to the Church is for the one who has surrendered all to God, longs to be filled to overflowing with His Spirit, and wants to be used by God to do great things for the kingdom.
If this is you, then this book is for YOU!
If a weak, powerless Christianity is no longer acceptable for you, An Open Letter to the Church is the Spirit-filled book that will take you from walking habitually in the natural to walking and operating in the realm of the supernatural.
Three topics covered in the book:
- Being Full of the Holy Ghost
Faith is at the foundation of every believing Christian. The Bible says, "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him" -Hebrews 11:6 NASB.
A Christian without faith is like a bird without wings. A bird's wings are one of his most precious physical attributes that make him uniquely and physically a bird. Without his wings he would not be able to fly.
Christians are known to be people of faith. This faith is in a God they cannot physically see with their eyes, hear with their ears, or touch with their hands. But they believe He's real because they've experienced Him through faith.
An Open Letter to the Church not only tells you what faith is, it also shows you how to apply faith to your life. This book teaches you how to walk in faith by giving you real and tangible examples of faith that you can take and apply to your life, growing your personal faith in God.
When God brought Israel out of Egypt, delivering them from 430 years of slavery, He set about teaching them who He was, what He expected of them, and How they were to serve Him. God told Israel that He is a holy God, and they must be holy also.
Holiness is a responsibility of every believing Christian.
The Hebrew word for holiness - Kodesh - means a sacred place or thing; a consecrated thing; a dedicated thing. We are God's sacred people. We must remain pure and undefiled before Him.
When something is set aside as consecrated or sacred ... for example, a dish ... we reserve this dish for use only on special sacred occasions. We usually have a special place set aside to store this dish so that it can't be defiled by the unclean things around it. We would never use our sacred dish to prepare or eat foods we would consider unclean. Nor would we use it as a dish pan to wash our dirty dishes. This dish is sacred, therefore we take extra efforts to keep it unpolluted and unstained by the things that can defile.
An Open Letter to the Church looks at holiness from two perspectives: what God expected of Israel, and what He expects of the believer today. God absolutely expects His people today to be holy. Holiness is God's standard of living for every Christian.
BEING FULL OF THE HOLY GHOST
Have you noticed how the Bible sometimes brings to our attention when someone is full of the Holy Ghost? The Bible tells us that Stephen was full of the Holy Ghost. The disciples also told the church to pick out seven men from among them who were full of the Holy Ghost, and wisdom, and put them over the administering of aid to widows who were being neglected.
When we are full of the Holy Ghost, we are walking after the leading of the Spirit, and not after the flesh.
When we are full of the Holy Ghost, we are no longer babes in Christ, who can only drink milk, but mature Christians, who can now eat solid food (spiritual food).
When we are full of the Holy Ghost, God can use us to do great things for the kingdom!
An Open Letter to the Church peers into the lives of some of our Christian forebearers who were full of the Holy Ghost. How did these people move and operate in the kingdom? What was their prayer life like? How did God equip them for service?
Are you ready? There's no time like the present to embark on this wonderful Christian journey of discovery, and increase in revelation, that can only be found in God. There's so much depth in God. Why would we ever be content wading in the shallow waters when we can immerse ourselves in the deep things of God? God wants to reveal Himself to us, but we must first be willing seekers. When we search for Him with our whole heart we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
