1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (AKJV)
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
This is the season of Thanksgiving. There are so many things we have to be thankful for. Each of us, if we had to, could probably come up with a rather lengthy list of all the things we are thankful for.
There is no end to the goodness of God!! He just keeps raining down His blessings on us. Here are just a few things that I am thankful for.
- I am thankful for my home. There are so many people who do not have homes — the homeless. But I have a home to go to every day. I have a warm, comfortable bed and plenty of food to eat. For this, I am grateful. I never want to take anything for granted. Not only do I have an earthly home, but I also have a Heavenly home, and I am looking forward to spending eternity there. I truly praise God for that.
- I am thankful for my family. I have a family that loves me, and I love them. I really enjoy spending time with my family. I am thankful that we are able to come together (without stress or drama) and have a good time, enjoying one another’s company. This is a blessing. My prayer is for families — healthy, loving, supportive and nurturing families (the way God designed it to be). This is needed more today than ever before, because over the years we have seen a break-down in the family unit, and it continues to fail. It’s time to lift up families in prayer, that God’s will will be done on the earth, as it relates to families.
- I am thankful for God’s presence in my life. He has been a constant force in my life. Faithful. Loving. Merciful. Long-suffering. My provider. My keeper. My everything. He is my Rock. He covers me under His wings — He’s my protector. I am convinced that I can do all things because it is He who strengthens me.
- I am thankful for Jesus. For His sacrifice on the cross. For saving me from eternal separation from God. For washing away all my sins. As time goes by, I fall more and more in love with Him. This song my Jonathan Butler and Kirk Whalum does a good job of summing up how I feel about Jesus. “Falling in Love with Jesus” Enjoy! http://youtu.be/pFSP5gH_uDc
During the hustle and bustle of this holiday season, let us all take time to tell our loved ones how much we love and appreciate them. And let’s not forget to give God thanks for His many blessings in our lives. He is worthy of all praise and honor.
