Near where I live we have resident geese, who have laid claim to all of the nearby ponds. I notice how although they mainly stay in their own family groups, all of the groups usually stick close together. (I guess there’s security in numbers!)
All of the family groups usually walk together in lines back and forth between the three ponds. Their lives consist mainly of eating, resting, grooming, and swimming.
While I was out for a walk this morning the geese were having their morning meal. (They love to eat!) As I was studying these geese, I thought to myself, “now they seem to not have a care in the world.”
They eat, they socialize, they swim, and they nap. The thought probably never even enters their minds that they won’t have anything to eat or a place to swim on any given day.
The geese seem to know that there is always provision enough, not only for themselves, but for all of the other family groups as well. Everyone eats and is satisfied.
God has provided abundantly for ALL of His creation — man as well as animal. As long as the earth has existed, it has never stopped giving of its bountiful fruits.
Even through famine, or if their is a crop shortage somewhere, something somewhere else in a different part of the country or another part of the world is always growing and producing. God’s provisions NEVER die.
For this reason there should never be one who goes hungry, or naked, or homeless. This only happens because of greed, corruption, incompetence, selfishness, and no compassion or love for our fellow man.
Land of Plenty
We are living in a land of plenty. God has provided more than enough for us and everyone else who exists on the earth.
The geese look to God as their source (not an employer, the government, or any man), and He provides abundantly to meet all of their needs.
Are you worried or anxious about how you will eat or provide for your family? Maybe it’s time to do like the geese and make God your source instead of a fallible, unpredictable, and corrupt worldly system.
God is the only cure for anxiety. Here is His cure:
25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28 And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6, NASB)
More than Enough
God has more than enough to meet all of your needs, and then some. There is no lack in God. You must believe this.
Put your complete faith and trust in God. When you do this, this triggers a response from Him. When He sees you completely confident in His ability and power to provide for you, this pleases Him and He rewards you with whatever you’re trusting Him for.
Faith is the thing that connects with God’s power and results in provision, healing, deliverance, salvation. If we can believe God for salvation, why can’t we also believe Him to provide for us?
Be anxious no more. Don’t worry about anything. Put your trust in God and watch Him provide for you.
