We sometimes make the mistake of wishing we had something other than what we have. We either take for granted what we have or wish we had something better.
We may even wish we could trade in what we have for an upgrade, like we do with our cars. But the grass isn’t any greener on the other side. So stop looking over the fence imagining that your life would be better if you had something else.
Looks can be deceiving!
Our perception can become skewed if we are only operating on our emotions. Our emotions can change like the wind — here today, gone tomorrow.
There have been many people who have fallen into the trap. They’ve given up what they had for something they thought was better only to discover that it wasn’t any better after all. They now know, a little too late, that the thing they originally had was actually pretty good.
No, the grass isn’t any greener on the other side.
Too many lives have been wasted, squandered away, based on a lie. The lie is the fairy tale we tell ourselves when we make the decision to cheat on our spouses, have that abortion, or leave one spouse for another.
We think it will make our lives better, easier, but in reality it just compounds things. All we are left with are the scars of a decision made in haste, and a trail of tears and regrets.
Have the courage to face your fears head-on. Ask God for the strength to make the right decisions. Allow His perfect love to cast out all fear. And most importantly, stop looking over the fence. Focus on your own lawn (life). Nurture it. Care for it. Tend to it like it’s the best thing in your life, and pretty soon, it will be. Pretty soon, your lawn will be the greenest on the block!
